I am still amazed at our 2009 Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions. Even with the economic conditions not being good, it was agreed that our goal for LMCO would be $1300.00. Our WMU Director and myself were praying hard that this goal would be met and that we had not set our sights to high.
Just a couple weeks before the offering, I was presented with a check for $1300.00 in matching funds for our LMCO. Simply all we had to do was reach our goal and we would have $2600.00. On the day of the offering, which we count during the worship service, some pleasant suprises began to show. There was an envelope for $500.00 and someone else put in an envelope with $1300.00 in it. When we finished counting we had not only reach our goal, but we had more than tripled it. Our offering that Sunday was $4527.55. Our final total at the end of December was $4575.00
Our average Morning Worship attendance during December was 71 and includes a large group of retirees. We had a missionary couple from Japan speak in November and a missionary volunteer to Africa. I guess it proves that if you educate your people about missions they will give to missions.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY! I look forward to our 2010 Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.
